Southwest City is a city in McDonald County, Missouri, United States. The population was 937 at the 2010 census, at which time it was a town. It is located at 36°3059N 94°3643W (36.516386, -94.611917). According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.48 square miles (3.83 km²), of which 1.46 square miles of it is land and 0.02 sq miles (0.05 km²) is water. Southwest City was platted in 1870. Brothers Ambrose and Larkin McGhee. Well known Indian traders during the civil war and after. Helped layout southwest city. It was named from its location in the southwest corner of the county and state. The city is located in the southwestern part of the state of Missouri, in the northwest corner of McDonald County and in the southeast corner of St. Louis County. In 2010, there were 970 people, 319 households, and 225 families living in the city. The average household size was 2.75 and the average family size was 3.53. In the town the population was spread out, with 33.8% under the age of 18, 10.2% from 18 to 24, 27.4% from 25 to 44, and 11.1% who were 65 years of age or older. History

Southwest City was platted in 1870. It was named from its location in the southwest corner of the county and state. Brothers Ambrose and Larkin McGhee. Well known Indian traders during the civil war and after. Helped layout southwest city. The city was named for its location from the southwest of the state and county. It is located in the southwestern part of the U.S. state of Utah. It has a population of 2,000. The town is located on the banks of the Little Snake River, which runs through the center of the city. It also has a lake, which was built in the late 1800s. The community is located near the town of Puyallup, which is in the northwest of the same state and is home to the city's historic downtown. The area is also known as the "Sandy River Valley" because of the abundant water supply. The river was once a source of drinking water for the area. It ran through the southwest section of the town, and the city was once called the "Waters of the South" for its scenic beauty. The current name is derived from the name of the local Indians, the McGhee family, who lived there during the Civil War and afterward. The City was named after the brothers Ambrose McGhee, who was a well known Indian trader during the war.

It is the only city in the state of California with a population over 1,000 (1/2 million in 2000).
